Night Games

Hey Everyone!

Wednesday is almost upon us! And after the craziness that was last week (Unicorn Ninja Princess, anyone?), I'm excited to see what's going to come out for this week!

Ninja's, suit up. We're turning off the lights, turning on the glow sticks and running through the church. We have all sorts of games planned for you, and there will be insanity. How sneaky can you be?

Things get sneaky at 6:30! So be there, and bring a friend!

Double-V Spree

Hello Middle Schoolers (and grown up Middle Schoolers),

It's almost time for youth again! Did you know it's only a little over a month until Spring Break? Crazy, right? Where has the year gone?

Tomorrow night we're meeting at the church at 6:30 for Double-V Spree. If you've never been here for one before, it's a crazy night! We start of the evening with spinning a wheel of randomness, which has a variety of different eras and themes on it. It could be 80's, could be Hanna Montana, could be Blue Bayou fishing. Then... your team runs to Value Village and must dress your leader in the best outfit possible, within your budget!

Then we drag (hopefully not literally) our leader's back to the church, and our expert fashion judging panel decides how you've done while you explain the reasoning behind your choices!

The cost for the evening is $5, but if you bring a friend, the cost for both of you is only $5! So bring a friend, and it's half price!

See you tomorrow at 6:30!

Current Issues

Hello Youth, Parents and Leaders!

I'd like to invite you the Current Issues session tomorrow during Learning Centre Hour (10 AM-11AM). I'll be leading the presentation for all generations, and I'd love to have your voice to speak into the Q&A at the end.

I'll be presenting some of our philosophy behind youth ministry at Bakerview, and how that has affected our programming, purpose, and training. We'll be reviewing briefly the past year, and also discussing the way forward. I'd love to have your input!

Hope to see you there,

Pastor Stephen

Foundations: Making Wise Choices

Update 18/01/12 2:52 PM - Youth tonight is being cancelled. The roads and the weather is too erratic for it to be worth the risk. It's only... wise. (pun intended) Have a great week! HAVE FUN IN THE SNOW!

Hey Everyone!

Hope you're enjoying the snow. I want to let you know that tomorrow night is up in the air, but for right now, we'll plan on it HAPPENING. I will send out an e-mail and update the blog by 4 PM tomorrow if it is not going to happen. I expect it will, but I'll check the weather forecasts, and if it's looking like the roads are going to be treacherous at the beginning or end of youth, we won't do it for everyone's safety.

Nonetheless... it's our Foundations week! :) From 1 Kings 3:

That night the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”

Solomon replied, “You showed faithful love to your servant my father, David, because he was honest and true and faithful to you. And you have continued your faithful love to him today by giving him a son to sit on his throne.

“Now, O LORD my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted! Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”

The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom. So God replied, “Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies— I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have! And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life!

We're going to be talking about making wise choices! Such a simple thing to talk about, and such a hard thing to do. But it starts with the small things. Come out tomorrow (if it happens!) to find out more! See you at 6:30.

Nail Polish and Golf Balls

Hope your weeks have been going well. I had a ton of fun with you all last week at lasertag, and we're going to continue that this week with a boys and girls night! Pay attention closely to where you need to be and when, because we're splitting between the two groups.

Girls: You're having a 'girly' night here at the church. Word has it it's going to involve nail polish (ew), Friendship bracelets (fun!) and tea and cookies! (mmmm). Regular times apply. You'll have to ask Bria/Chantal, because there was also a rumour of it being a PJ party, but I can't confirm or deny that.

Boys: We're going to go hit some golf balls and play some video games! See who can crush that golf ball the furthest, and more! No cost to you, just be at the church at 6:30 sharp!

See you tomorrow night! Praying for you all.

New Years Lasertag

Can you believe we're already into 2012? It was just 12 years ago that some of you were born (SCARY!) and I was hiding under a rock wondering if we were going to survive Y2K!

Good news is, we're kicking off 2012 with a bang! It's going to be a focused year... like a laser! So naturally, we're heading into Langley to go lasertagging! If you've never been before, you've missed out. You get to strap on a pack, get a lasergun, and shoot your friends for points. I do have to say... I'm undefeated thusfar. I'm waiting for that fateful day!

The cost for this week is $10, and that will get you TWO games of Lasertag. Bring a friend along!

Parents: We'll be started at 6:30, and will end at 9 PM this week, due to the travel time. Feel free to e-mail me or call with any questions.

Christmas Party!

Hi Everyone!

Our last event before Christmas! Where have the last 4 months gone? We've had a ton of fun, and now it's time for one last hurrah before our Christmas break.

We've got plenty of things planned for you... including (but certainly not limited to) a candy-cane hunt, gingerbread houses, Christmas music/movies, trivia and more! You don't want to miss it!

The cost for tonight is $10, but if that is a problem for you, just let me know and we can work something out! :)

Also... as a head's up, our LC on Sunday will be a little different! We're going to talk about Christmas for a bit, and then head upstairs to mingle and enjoy the Christmas baking. So bring some baking along with you for our LC hour on Sunday! :)

Things get started at 6:30 tonight... see you there!

Foundations: Evangelism

Christmas is ALMOST upon us. How exciting is that? Nothing is better than spending time with family, eating good food and making good memories! :) I always love this time of the year.

We have one more week before our Christmas Party. This week is foundations! We're going to be talking about Evangelism. Why do we share our faith? What's important about it? And a little bit about how we share it too!

Things get rolling at 6:30, so don't be late! We'll see you tomorrow night.
