Foundations: Spiritual Gifts

Hey Everyone!

Our last Senior Youth before Berlin, and before Spring Break. Let's make it a good one, eh? This month in Foundations, we're going to be looking into what God has in store with you, and more specifically, how He's gifted you to have a special place in His Kingdom and in the world.

Each of us has Spiritual Gifts that He's given us, and when we use them (and know what they are!) then the Church (and our youth ministry) works the way it's supposed to. There are people to serve, people to teach, people to welcome, people to counsel. We're a family, and we all have a special place.

We're starting things off at 6:30 PM, and there will be games, and plenty of fun. Plus... there's a high probability that Ruth AND Tonia will roll their eyes and tell me that my activities are dumb! You don't want to miss that!

Show and Tell

Hello Everyone!

We all have things from our past that we find fun. Things that remind us of significant times or events. Sharing them with each other can be fun as we learn new things about our friends.

Tomorrow night is one of those times! Bring the funny, the cute, the sad, the significant parts of your lives to share with others! :) It could be a drawing, and old stuffed animal, a sports item, or something you're just really really proud of! :)

Things get started at 6:30, and it's sure to be a night full of all sorts of learning! See you then!

Foundations: How to Study Your Bible

Hi Everyone!

Getting drowned out there? I hope not. Don't forget your galoshe's and rain gear! You should make it through just fine! :)

Tomorrow night, regular time, regular place, we're having our Monthly Foundations. In fact, this will be our last foundations for the next month! Scary, scary, eh? Good news is... it's a good one!

This month we're going to talk about how to study the Bible. One of the biggest hurdles in growing in your faith is opening the big book with confidence and reading. But, if we can read with confidence and learn from what we read, then we learn some pretty incredible things about God. It's his letter to you, telling you the story that he's telling in our world. Pretty important stuff!

So... bring your own bible, a smile on your face, and maybe a pencil to do some underlining and marking! It's going to be a blast!

6:30 tomorrow in the youth room... see you then!

Night Games

Hey Everyone!

Wednesday is almost upon us! And after the craziness that was last week (Unicorn Ninja Princess, anyone?), I'm excited to see what's going to come out for this week!

Ninja's, suit up. We're turning off the lights, turning on the glow sticks and running through the church. We have all sorts of games planned for you, and there will be insanity. How sneaky can you be?

Things get sneaky at 6:30! So be there, and bring a friend!

Small Groups

Hello Everyone!

You read the subject right! Tomorrow night is a bit of a change-up. We've got some scheduling things with leaders in the next few weeks, and we wanted to make sure that small groups happened this month. That means that tomorrow will be small groups!

Please read below closely... as it will tell you where you need to go.

Girls

You are ALL meeting at Ruth's at 6:30 PM. There will be rides from the church at 6:15, as we're doing a Berlin group shot at the church. You'll be crafting, praying and eating! It'll definitely be fun. Give me a call if you're having trouble finding her place. Check your e-mail or contact me if you need Ruth's address!

Boys

Cory's group will be meeting at his house. He wants me to remind you to bring old shoes/boots and a flashlight! Sounds like fun. If you can't get out there yourself, be at the church for 6:15, and we'll get you a ride out there! :) If you need to get ahold of Cory directly. I'd suggest carpooling! Check your e-mail or contact me directly for address/phone numbers.

Cory's group (in case you've forgotten) is Ben, Kyle, Johnny, Caleb, Matthew, Luke, Davis, Tyus.

Dennis and Jordan's group will be meeting at the church. Not sure what Dennis has planned, but I'm sure it's going to be epic. I'll let you know if anything changed, but plan to be at the church for 6:30.

Their group is Steven, Vincent, Caleb, Conrad, Trevor, Tyler, Reuben, Jackson and Garrett.

Got questions? Give me a call or send me an e-mail!

Double-V Spree

Hello Middle Schoolers (and grown up Middle Schoolers),

It's almost time for youth again! Did you know it's only a little over a month until Spring Break? Crazy, right? Where has the year gone?

Tomorrow night we're meeting at the church at 6:30 for Double-V Spree. If you've never been here for one before, it's a crazy night! We start of the evening with spinning a wheel of randomness, which has a variety of different eras and themes on it. It could be 80's, could be Hanna Montana, could be Blue Bayou fishing. Then... your team runs to Value Village and must dress your leader in the best outfit possible, within your budget!

Then we drag (hopefully not literally) our leader's back to the church, and our expert fashion judging panel decides how you've done while you explain the reasoning behind your choices!

The cost for the evening is $5, but if you bring a friend, the cost for both of you is only $5! So bring a friend, and it's half price!

See you tomorrow at 6:30!

Current Issues

Hello Youth, Parents and Leaders!

I'd like to invite you the Current Issues session tomorrow during Learning Centre Hour (10 AM-11AM). I'll be leading the presentation for all generations, and I'd love to have your voice to speak into the Q&A at the end.

I'll be presenting some of our philosophy behind youth ministry at Bakerview, and how that has affected our programming, purpose, and training. We'll be reviewing briefly the past year, and also discussing the way forward. I'd love to have your input!

Hope to see you there,

Pastor Stephen

Foundations: Sexuality

Hope your weeks have been going well. :) I had a TON of fun with you all last week, and I'm looking forward to the week ahead.

This month in Foundations we're going to be talking about Sexuality. We've talked about relationships and boundaries, and now we're going to touch on the Biology of what God has created, and also about how that affects us. It should be a slightly awkward (or not) conversation, and plenty of fun too!

Parents, I'd encourage you to follow up on this conversation at home. Touch base on relationships, as well as your own thoughts. A good ice breaker for some otherwise tough conversations!

Things get started at 6:30 PM... see you then!
