Oh Man! I love popcorn! I love spending time with friends and watching a great movie.

Guess what we're doing this week!? :) We're going to be watching Despicable Me (It's sooooo fluffy!) and having a blast. The movie is getting started at 6:45, so make sure you're there on time! We'll be rolling out the popcorn machine... and it's delicious!

See you at 6:30 on Wednesday!

Parents Meeting

Hello Parents!

Just a reminder that we're getting together tonight at 7 PM in the fireside room (behind the sanctuary) tonight! We're going to review the past few months, talk about what's coming in the rest of the year, and a little bit of the philosophy change that we're starting to implement in youth ministry.

Also, it's a great time to ask any questions you might have! :)

I'm bringing Tim Horton's and coffee! See you there!

Despicable… You?

It's been a rainy week, and I know what helps me pass the time on days like this... a movie! What's better than watching a movie with friends, food, and plenty of laughter? Nothing! :)

It's so fluffy!

We're going to be watching Despicable Me as per the vote on Sunday. If you haven't seen it, it's a great laugh, and if you have... IT'S SO FLUFFY!

See you at 6:30 :)

Foundations: Sin

Have you ever wondered what sin is? How about what God is doing about it, and what the consequences are?

Tomorrow night, January 13th, we're going to be having a conversation about Romans 2:1-12. It's a passage that focuses around what sin is, and how we are each responsible for our own actions.

Some very real conversations about what kind of choices we make, and the consequences that has on our lives. I think it will be a tough, but very good conversation!

Things get started at 6:30, see you then!

Foundations: Problem of Sin

EDIT (11:00 AM 12/01/2011): Due to the Snow and freezing rain, youth tonight is CANCELLED. It's better to stay home and have some fun in your backyards than risk coming out in the weather! Have fun! See you next week! Don't forget about the Toby Mac Tickets! :)

Young people crave self-esteem more than sex

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41022931/ns/health-behavior/

If there's one problem that all parents face, it's how to raise their children so that once they are out from under your roof, they will weather the forces of the world and still stand strong in their faith.

MSNBC has a report on some interesting (and kind of self-explanatory) research on how youth and young adults crave acceptance and self-esteem more than sex or other risky behaviour. They are a generation that craves attention, and we find a fine balance between feeding that and teaching them that the world is not all about them.

More than anything you could do, however, teach your kids that they are loved and accepted. Give them a safe place they can run to when things aren't going well, and know that they will always find someone who loves them and will back them. That legacy will carry on for years after they have left your house.
