Foundations – Redemption

This week, we're getting together at the usual time to sit down and discuss an episode of Flashpoint. We watched an episode about a school shooting last year, and had some discussion about how we treat other people, and the unintended consequences of that.

This time around, we're watching an episode about a prison riot, deal with vengeance, forgiveness, and redemption. I know when I watched it, it was very thought provoking, and I hope that it will be for you too!

Make sure that you bring your Bible's with you, and come with your thinking caps on, and your hearts on your sleeves! See you Thursday night at 6:30.

Mexico 2010

As many of you know, we're heading to Mexico in March! If you are planning on coming along, the deadline for applications is this coming Sunday (the 17th) at noon. Before you apply, take some time to pray about it, make sure this is where God wants you to be. It will be a very stretching experience for you, and will definitely test you beyond almost anything you've been through before.

Ten days in a bus with 30 people is a long time, and there will be plenty of stress. Not to mention the lack of sleep, the long drives, and the tight quarters. We will definitely have a lot of fun, but there is a lot of challenges ahead of us too!

If you're still interested in coming along, consider these things:

1. I agree to be a servant in all things. Coming to Mexico will work you hard. You`ll be out of your comfort zone, doing things you may have never done before. You will be tired, you will want to rest, but we will work and rest as a group. Come prepared to work hard.
2. I agree to forgive others and give grace. Spending a lot of time with people, even people you are very good friends with, will create conflict. Please come ready to forgive others for the things that will annoy you for the sake of unity. Also be willing to consider that you might be the one causing conflict, and willing to apologize quickly.
3. I agree to come prepared to have fun. Few things are as fun as a road trip. Travelling over four thousand kilometres on a bus is definitely a road trip. Come ready to socialize, laugh, play games, take pictures and enjoy yourself. Both silently and out loud.
4. I agree to consider others. When we`re on the bus, there isn`t any place to go. Those who are driving, attempting to sleep or just get some down time need to be considered before you start making a large racket.
5. I agree to make this my first priority. The next few months will be busy, both in your regular life and in preparing to go to Mexico. In coming along, you`re agreeing to attend all meetings, services, and help with fundraisers
6. I agree to seek God in all things. There will be a considerable amount of stress on you before and during the trip. There will be Bible Reading and prayer to do before and during the trip. You agree to put this in high priority and build your relationship with God.

If you're still interested in coming along, you can download the application form
